Beliefs and Style of Service PDF Print E-mail

In order to identify Calvary Chapel Monroe as conservative in theology, and evangelical in spirit, we set forth this general statement of fundamental beliefs.

Calvary Chapel Monroe has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ!

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers... and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:42, 47

Statement of Faith PDF Print E-mail

Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into his image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are not a denominational fellowship, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their overemphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

Church History PDF Print E-mail
march07ccm.jpgSimilar to number of Calvary Chapel's, CCM started in a home with a handful of believers in March of 2007.  Pastor Doug and his family continued to drive to Monroe from North Bend Washington once a week to teach and serve with an eye fulfill the Lord's calling and plant a church in the Monroe community.  On May 11th 2008, Calvary Chapel officially launched, meeting in the Monroe Senior Center on Sunday nights. We are excited to see the Lord work in the Monroe community as the Word of the Lord goes out; book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Our Purpose PDF Print E-mail
  1. To Exalt Jesus Christ
  2. To Equip His Saints
  3. To Evangelize His Earth

Our worship services on Sunday evenings center around praising our Lord Jesus in song and discovering His love and direction for us through His Word.  Our approach to teaching the Bible is book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse; delighting ourselves in the full council of His Word.

As well, we view prayer as essential to loving Him and serving His will.  To that end, we meet each Thursday evening for a time of corporate and personal prayer.

About Pastor Doug PDF Print E-mail

FamilyPastor Doug was born in 1968 and was raised, for the most part, in Seattle, Wa. Though loved by his parents, his broken home left him with life’s typical baggage and difficulties. His high school years were marked with anger, resentment, confusion and rebellion. By the time he entered into his college years, it was obvious that he was headed down the wrong road of life.

In 1991, his father gave his heart to the Lord, changing the face of the Sommer household forever. Watching his father (and family) grow and transform, Doug’s heart began to change. He began seeing that there was more to life than just self fulfillment and pleasure. One night he met with his father’s pastor and within a couple hours found himself on his knees asking Jesus to become his personal Lord and Savior. Three days later, he found himself leading his Mormon girlfriend to the Lord (got to love the 4 Spiritual Laws!). Together they found themselves growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and quickly began to serve in the church.

Doug has spent a number of years as a Jr. High leader at Calvary Fellowship in Seattle and then moved to North Bend Washington where he spent the last 6 years as the Worship leader under his pastor Walt Cesmat. Additionally, he has spent most of his Christian walk hosting Home fellowships and teaching through the Word of God. He and his wife Dacyl have 3 children (Faith, Keilah and Christian) and are actively pursing God’s call to plant a church in Monroe Wa.
